Met these adorable children during a trip in Leyte, Phillipines, in a temporary schooling facility after a devastating typhoon hit Leyte few months before which caused awful damages to lots of homes and houses, temporary houses and schools were built but far more are needed but there was lack of funding. It is a rather rural area comparing to Manila and the children there enjoyed posing in front of the camera after a little bit of warm up and curiosity about cameras as most of them have never seen one, I tried speaking minimal Tagalog that I'd learnt during the trip and befriended them.

Story

Met these adorable children during a trip in Leyte, Phillipines, in a temporary schooling facility after a devastating typhoon hit Leyte few months before which caused awful damages/loss to lots of lives, homes and houses, temporary houses and schools were built but far more are needed but sadly there was lack of funding. Leyte is a rather rural area comparing to Manila. The children there enjoyed posing in front of the camera after a little bit of warm up and my friendly eye contact, they were hesitant and looked very worried at first but children are children, curiosity about cameras grew very quick as most of them have never seen one before, I tried speaking minimal Tagalog that I'd learnt during the trip and befriended them at the end when they followed me walking and they kept speaking Tagalog very happily to me. Although I don't really know what they said, I felt wonderful about this encounter.
