CHECK IN Between twelve and one o´clock: the witching hour of hostelry, the moment when, magically, everything goes back in its place. Hastily tidying up so the incoming guest will find everything where it´s supposed to be; every element has its own spot, a universally accepted arrangement that turns an anonymous space into a strangely familiar environment. It´s the smell of something new, clean slates that eliminate the remains of rare occupants, the undesired traces of time. Hotels, places where furniture is not trained to accumulate dust, to feel the everyday of its residents, they neatly dismiss the circular coffee stains, the dry remains of wine glasses, the duvets pert wrinkles; all those bearings of residence, signs of belonging to a particular place are duly eliminated between twelve and one o´clock.
