Isola di Santo Spirito is a tiny island in the Venetian Lagoon. The Santo Spirito island had a unique past. The history dates back to the 11th century when it was the seat of a monastery and at the time of the Republic of Venice it used to accomodate diplomatic delegations and ambassadors. Afterwards, in the 19th century, Napoleon converted it into military facilties. Since the 1960s it has been neglected. It was put to sale in 2011..
