Mike McCorkle has been a commercial fisherman on the Pacific’s waters on the Southern California coast for over 45 years. He has provided people with many kind of sea foods and products such as Halibuts, swordfishes and sea cucumbers, just to name a few. In addition to meticulously follows regulations while fishing in order to maintain a proper sea life ecosystem, he provides on a continuous basis research centres with various samples of many kinds of fish species to deepened examinations on the Pacific’s environment. Over the last decades, the fishing industry maintained a continuous change unfavourable for local independent fisherman like him as most of them have and are disappearing. As he has been actively fighting for fishermen’s rights over the years, he has become the president of the Southern Califronia Trawlers Association. As a lot of his fishermen friends have stopped, he has maintained his fishing and will, practically everyday before sunrise, be going out to sea from the Santa Barbara Harbour with his boat, the PieFace.
