This image is from a project which lets Norwegian myths and fairytales transform through translating from one cultural context to another to see what remains, what is lost, what translates, if anything, and what is created when I try to merge past, present and future to reform an idea of home in Australia.
Unn-Therese Dida Sundet is a Norwegian artist currently living in Melbourne, Australia. Dida works with a number of techniques to create her work, ranging from staged photography to sculpture and installation, but considers herself mainly to be a Light Painter. Her constructed photographs explore notions of displacement, cultural traditions of storytelling and the politics of horror. Dida’s most recent work situates the imagination as site for the construction of trans-identities and poetic realities. Her work unites aspects from an extensive background in theatre, film and photography in both Norway and Melbourne. Dida is currently undertaking a MA Visual Arts (Research) at La Trobe University, Bendigo, Australia.
