I love shooting in or near water. I love the soft transcendent movement it gives to a photo. This photo is especially meaningful as these two models are actually best friends.
Conceptual portrait photographer Robin Macmillan grew up in the small town of Orillia, Ontario. She studied fine art for four years in the Painting and Drawing Program at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto. With her background in fine art, her photographic process extends far beyond the initial picture to the creation of a piece of art. At the age of 40, Robin was diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer shortly after her daughter’s first birthday. “There is nothing like a serious illness to make you re-evaluate what is important in your life! I felt in the past my lack of confidence had stopped me from fully pursuing my passion for photography. It was time for me to do what made me happy and not follow a formulated photographic style but create my own ideas, process and pieces.” Now, five years later, Robin continues on her fine art journey creating painterly but impactful storytelling photographs.
