TV has this hypnotizing effect on man. Probably even more so in case of children. Their lethargic tv-watching faces stand in sharp contrast to the overwhelming vitality they usually show. During its short lives a child watches that magic box for an average of 16 hours per week, year after year. One boy, one couch, one TV. While different people pass by, one boy is the centre of the tv-audience. What does he see? What does he think? Does he think at all? These and more are the thoughts that pop in mind when seeing the photoseries ‘This is TV’.
I am inspired by people and their domains. Especially the domains of children. Where does their world ends and where does their parents ones start? How do children explore their boundaries towards other children? I catch these themes in a documentary way with a touch of serenity.
