The idea is to break gender roles and habits of viewing by fragmentation of anonymous bodies. At the same time it comes to question ideals of beauty, body and show skin in its natural imperfection. By developing the images de-saturated colours and strong contrasts the sculptural of the body is stressed, they are excessive and are exemplary. In the end, the question remains: What is beauty?
Wittkowski & Bammert is a partnership of Berlin artists / photographers Joerg Klaus, Andreas Schoettke and Holger Diedrich. A joint photographic project in 2010 led to the founding of their partnership in 2013. Joerg Klaus studied photography at the Academy of Visual Arts â€œHGB Leipzigâ€ with Prof. Arno Fischer and Prof. Astrid Klein. After graduating, he was a master student with Prof. Astrid Klein. Andreas SchÃ¶ttke Studied photography at the Berlin Art School â€œOstkreuzschule fÃ¼r Fotografieâ€ with Thomas Sandberg and Sibylle Bergemann.
