Entry Description

Cambodia is a developing country still recovering after devastating Pol-Pot regime and the civil war in 1970's. A significant percentage of the poorest population is involved in the recycling activities as it's the only way they can sustain themselves. Some people live on a garbage dumps outside every biggest cities. They live in makeshift huts, in the midst of permanent terrible odour and in terrible sanitary conditions.

About Photographer

Grzegorz Komar was born in 1977 in Warsaw, Poland. He studied Civil Engineering at Warsaw University of Technology and Computer Science at Warsaw School of Information Technology (graduated). He worked in IT and Banking industries for 10 years. In 2009 he started his professional career as a freelance photographer, focusing on documentary photography. He is based in Warsaw, Poland.
