About the Artist:

Early on as a child in Chile, his birth country, Felipe developed a healthy creative woodworking habit, carving small sculptures for friends and family. His passion for woodworking has never faded, these days carving custom furniture pieces and building projects as a licensed general contractor. With a full fledged addiction to create, prior to departure to university in the United States, his photography habit was developed after being exposed to it in Spain by his stepfather, who purchased his first 35mm manual camera. In 1992, he was graduated from Lehigh University with a BS in Marketing and minor in Psychology. While at university he took photography classes, discovered his passion for landscapes, and learned his way around a darkroom. The rest of his photography experience is self-taught, his preferred learning method. After an abrupt end to a career in finance, which led him to San Francisco, he settled in Marin hoping to land a creative gig, but was unable to find his niche. He took a job as a bellman at The Inn Above Tide in Sausalito, unaware that it was to become the creative job he had sought. For 13 years, his camera has travelled to the edge of San Francisco Bay, enabling him to capture many scenes within it’s ever changing landscape, the skyline, sunrises, sunsets, moonrises and more. While hiking or driving to the coast on Mt. Tam, he finds himself mesmerized by the magic and beauty of the bay, the mountain, and the Pacific Ocean. Constantly being impelled to grab his camera and tripod, and start shooting.
