Entry Description

There are many ways to speak about immigration, Rome is the only city that allows you to do from a gasoline station. Every night, when petrol station close their doors, all around Rome hundreds of guys start their shift. They have devised a new “job”: self-service petrol stion attendant , offering their help to the drivers in exchange of a tip. Most of them come from Bangladesh, the rest from India. All of them work without shelter from the cold and rain, sometimes sitting, often standing. In a country where the social, cultural and professional integration is often a mirage, you have to invent something to survive. The choice of the photographic perspective – subjects are always framed from the same distance – is meant to convey to the observer the professional and existential anonymity of their lives.
