Hymns from the Bedroom is a personal journal of friends and people I've encountered whilst wandering around London. Most of whom are creative twenty-something’s on the threshold of their dreams and ambitions, ranging from performance artists, musicians, actors ,strippers, transvestites and those who live on the fringes of society. Each of my documentations implicitly tells a story about its subject and his or her creative endeavors in life. I photograph these people again and again. These candid, intimate and sometimes subversive portraits also explore related themes of gender, sexuality, relationships and family, particularly in a sub-cultural context.
British – living in London I grew up in small industrial town in Suffolk, into a family of factory workers, I broke away to pursue a career in theatre/performance art, did that for the best part of 10 yrs travelling extensively all over Europe. In 2010 I enrolled into a photography class at London College of Communication, where my passion for documentary photography began. Since then I have been working as a freelance photographer for local and national magazines, as well as working on my own personal projects. 2015 Head On / Semi Finalist / Museum of Sydney / Australia 2015 Merlinka Festival / Solo Exhibition / Belgrade / Serbia 2015 Onward Gallery / Finalist / Philadelphia USA 2015 Black Box / Group Exhibition/ Portaland / USA 2014 Renaissance Photography Prize – Finalist / Getty Image Gallery / London 2012 Magnum Workshop with Bruce Gilden 2010 London College of Communication / Photography class in Photojournalism
