With the drought in California over the past 3 years, the waters of Lake Tahoe recede significantly by November along with the people. This image was captured as storm clouds approached and dusk color illuminated a lone cloud above the lake. With the changing light I had to quickly seek an angle that caught the reflection in a pool of water along the shoreline, and set a graduated ND filter in front of the lens to bring the range of exposure closer. The black volcanic sand patterns added drama to the image which was beautifully rendered in its true color on Fuji RDPIII film.
