I've been traveling the South Pacific Coast of Nicaragua in August and September 2022 from Playa Maderas to Playa Guasacate. Hundreds of dead sea turtles have been found washed up on many beaches in what seems another ecological disaster. Talking to people on every single beach I've been, they told me that a few weeks before they saw many huge fishing boats stationing far away off the coast. They fish prawns, shrimps or any kind of seafood raking up whatever get caught in their nets, and then move away. It is plausible that all these dead turtles got caught in their nets and then thrown away.
