Honey collectors locally known as Maowalies, collect honey inside the Sundarbans forest in Bangladesh. A 3-month long honey collection campaign start from 1st April every year in west zone of Sundarbans. About 80,000 kilograms of honey and 20,000 to 24,000 kilograms of beeswax collected from the Sundarbans during the season. Maowalies are taking life risk to do their job in the forest due to tiger’s attack. Many of them died or injured during the season.
