Polynesian people believe that a person’s “mana”, their spiritual power or life force, is displayed through their tattoos and that spirit is passed down to one family member, when they die. Polynesian tattoo traditions span 2000 years but it is becoming harder with each passing year to educate their youth and keep their culture alive.
