Thousands of dancing fireflies in Japan create an enchanted forest. The firefly season comes to the beginning of rainy season. These photos were captured on mountains in the Shikoku island- the smallest of Japan's four main islands. It is providing an enchanting night-time spectacle. Swarms of fireflies illuminate the undergrowth in Japanese forest (Luciola parvula) and near river (Luciola cruciata). Firefly species (Luciola parvula) is called “HIME-BOTARU”in JAPAN. This species repeats a short flash. Recently, the population of this species decreases in Japan. These may be influence by environmental destruction. We have to maintain this beautiful environment. I took some photos (Luciola parvula) by using composite technique and high ISO speed under the weak moonlight. Exposure time would exceed total 30 minutes.
