This series is inspired by Ophelia, which is a painting by artist Sir John Everett Millais. It depicts Ophelia, a character from William Shakespeare's play Hamlet, singing before she drowns in a river in Denmark. In this series I re imagine the event as the beginning of a story that may have been. Where instead of Ophelia drowning, she swims and becomes a mermaid and eventually transcends all her suffering and invites the viewer to join her in her enlightenment.
