It was a cold March morning high atop this vineyard ridge in the Napa Valley. Dawn was breaking and the sun was just about to make its appearance. Hues of orange, yellow and bluish purple radiated across the sky accented by the waning presence of the nights sliver moon. Patches of morning fog clung to the treetops in the distance. An icy frost covered the vines and the rows in between, glistening in the morning light.
