William Snyder Incredibly intimate, personal moments from a notoriously insulated community. Clearly the photographer has a trusting relationship with the people and it shows in the great moments, big and small, here. Wonderful work.

LONG BEACH, CALIF. California photojournalist Cristina Salvador Klenz brings us a collection of rare, intimate black-and-white images featuring the Roma families living up and down the West Coast. Hidden: Life with California’s Roma Families is the first photography book to feature Romani Americans. Although the Roma are still widely known in English by the exonym “Gypsies,” this book comes amidst a global movement away from the word, which is increasingly considered an offensive pejorative. The foreword is written by Ian Hancock, considered the world's preeminent Romani scholar.
