Red Soil is a documentary photography project that uses black and white digital images,to showcase the contemporary effects of a historical injustice on the Maasai people north of the Great Rift Valley in Kenya.Uprooted into different reserves, this indigenous population lost its freedom of movement to pursue its semi-nomadic lifestyle. Large-scale ranches and farms, wildlife conservancies and government settlement schemes surround those communities.People are fenced off from their ancestral lands. Many compounding factors threaten their way of life. The Maasai live in a state of negative peace.
