The region at the borders of Colombia, Peru, and Brazil may be considered a wilderness, and rightly so – it is several hundred kilometers away from the nearest real road network. Instead, there is the river. The multitude of communities and people living in the area are all connected by the Amazon river. For many, life here has largely been unchanged for generations. It is a life under the conditions of nature, but also one of peace and natural plenty. Increasingly, however, it is evident that the outside world will change the life on the river. The question is, if it is for the better.
