Coming from a culture of outdoor enthusiasts, one fear is having to push the SOS button on your GPS. For three months I embedded with the latest recruits of the LCSAR training program to see who are the people of SAR. I found a community of people who share a love for the outdoors and helping others. The trainees dedicate 1500 hours of their lives to learning the basic skills necessary to rescue a subject and countless more after learning the plethora of tasks involved in a rescue.
