what is it like in captivity? as humans, we may think we understand what it is like to be captive in our own heads, or in the social constructs of society. but for this bear and this lion – we have two motives. the bear seems to have given up hope, pleading with its onlooker to be set free. but the lion, with its powerful roar and raging teeth, needs to be set free from its cage. lastly, though, we have the one who has achieved the ultimate desire: the butterfly. these images are being shown 10 years later to call attention to the human feelings that are so prevelant today.
