These incredible spiders are called ant mimicking spiders (Peckhamia sp.). The name is obvious. Their mimicking ways serve two purposes. First, several of their would be predators find ants less appetizing than a other prey. Second, their prey doesn’t feel as threatened by the presence of an ant—giving these spiders more opportunity to pounce and attack.
