Dubai is like a desert oasis, made up of a cluster of skyscrapers. A metropolis constructed in the middle of nowhere in just over two decades. Its futuristic skyline enveloped in the dusty haze looks like an image out of a science-fiction movie. The aim of my series is to capture some of Dubai’s iconic architecture with the use of some essentials of Islamic art. Complex geometric designs create the impression of unending repetition avoiding obvious focal points. In this sense, pattern can be used as a meditative tool, dissolving mental images and attachment to the physical world.
