Long before dementia robbed her of the ability to speak, my Mother asked us to keep her at home throughout her illness. It seemed like the best way to give her the care and attention she deserved. And it was. But until you are in the midst of something like this, it’s not easy to grasp how caring for someone at home is going to take everything you've got. It requires a team of people, all dedicated to making it happen. The people in this series are family members and caregivers that my Mom relied on 24/7. Without their help, there is no way she would have been able to stay at home.
