One month after the war began with Russia's invasion of Ukraine, I found myself in Poland, feeling compelled to do something to support the Ukrainian people. As an artist, I had not picked up a camera in 16 years, but I knew that this was the perfect moment to create something meaningful. With my personal ties to Ukraine through my father's birthplace and my family's escape from communist Poland to Canada, the war meant something deeply personal to me. I rented a Russian T-72 tank, the same type used by Russian forces to invade Ukraine, and held a casting to find a Ukrainian girl be an angel.
