We never know when inspiration is gifted to us nor by whom. American Photographer William Gedney was my influential educator at Pratt Institute, from 1981-1984. Photo 101 is a series from my photographic archive taken during my introductory classes to photography taught by William Gedney in 1981, investigating light and shadow on the human form with a camera as the tool for expression. His ease at engaging students, directing their photographic eye while inspiring critical thinking, translated to the models, providing a collaborative experience. This defined my photographic practices today.
