Over the past 9 years, I have documented the deadly impact of heat stress on workers in Nicaragua, El Salvador, India, Peru, Qatar and Nepal. Workers suffered severe health problems – and even death – after working in temperatures above 100 degrees Fahrenheit combined with high humidity. This project is a testament to the impact of heat stress on our warming planet, and the toll on global workers whose labor we rely on to survive as a species. As climate change continues to set record-breaking temperatures year after year, heat stress will continue to affect workers across the world.
