We know that rock formations inspired both Dalí and Tanguy, while Siskind & other photographers found abstract art in rocks. I find both abstract compositions and figurative ones in both rocks and ice. Going farther than typical pareidolia, and inspired by surrealist painting, I also find mythical creatures, ruins, fossils, grimacing masques, asteroids, eroticism, architectural fantasies, grotesque cyborgs, & ominous settings. The viewer returns to a natural world alive with alluring, surprising, and even frightening figures, and bonding to it in a way similar to our pre-industrial ancestors.
