"El Señor de los Nahuales" (that roughly translates to "The Lord of the Nahuales") San Pablo Chimalpa is a rural town to the west of Mexico City, whose beliefs wander between three beings: weeping women, witches and nahuales. The latter represent the duality of the human being in Náhuatl culture. The child was chosen as their protector. In the photograph, besides carrying a skull which symbolizes the nahual, he upholds the customs of his people against modernity, spreading like a stain behind him.
