Mazu is not only the Goddess of the sea but also the common mother for Taiwanese. In each year, thousands of believers accompany Mazu on foot from the Baishatun Gong Tien Temple in Miaoli to the Beigang Chou Tien Temple in Yunlin. After obtaining the sacred ash, they return to Miaoli. Throughout the 400 kilometers journey, many believers come to worship Mazu,and villagers generously provide free water and food to the believers. Throughout the journey, every villagers and believers are united together and make this challenging journey possible.
