Lençois Maranhenses in Brazil, with its endless rolling sand dunes and crystalline freshwater lakes, has got an otherworldly feel. I didn't have lots of luck with sunsets during the -mostly rainy- evenings, but I got treated to a glorious sunset on my last day in Santo Amaro... The tops of the dunes, with the sand relentlessly moved by the wind, getting beautifully lit by the warm glow of the setting sun. Whilst I initially wasn't too keen on the groups of eco-tourists entering my composition, their silhouettes brought a sense of scale and a human element that draws the viewer's eye.
