The white surface of the Antarctic sea ice has protected the Earth for more than 30 million years. It cools our planet by reflecting most of the sun's energy back into space, acting as a protective shield. Today, in summer, the area covered by sea ice is 40% less extensive than in 1980. Antarctica is the place where the temperature is rising the fastest in the world. Spectacular glaciers present since time immemorial risk disappearing forever. Although located on the other side of the world, our daily actions already have an influence on the fate of Antarctica.
