"Rani Ki Vav"(lit. the Queen's Stepwell)is situated on the banks of the Saraswati river in Patan,India. Measuring 64m in length, 20m in width and with a depth of 27m, this pillared multi-storeyed stepwell was constructed in the last quarter of the 11th century AD. The architectural brilliance and elegance of the 'Vav' is represented in its pristine glory through the ornamental work and beautiful sculptures of deities that adorn the walls of this stepwell. It is designed as an inverted temple highlighting the sanctity of water and is divided into seven levels of stairs with sculptural panels.
