Wildmeat is how thousands of rural people support themselves but diminishing animal supply, human population growth, newly accessible travel infrastructure and new wealth demand has reached a point where wildmeat is no longer sustainable. It's not eaten where its hunted, it's too valuable for that. Millions of kilograms of meat moves both nationally and internationally. Along with the meat comes zoonotic disease, passing from animals to humans - Covid-19, HIV, SARS, Ebola and more. We have just lived through the greatest pandemic in living history but we have not addressed the root cause.
