Have you ever seen an image and was instantly transported to another space in time physically or emotionally? When I looked over these images from Africa, I was instantly taken back to the soundtrack of my youth, recalling songs like Zhané’s "Sending My Love," Janet Jackson’s “Love Will Never Do (Without You),” Michael Jackson’s “In the Closet” and many Sade songs including “Feel No Pain and Never As Good As The First Time.” I remembered the minimalistic yet simple narratives that evoked unstated glamour, grace, and beauty while conveying love, joy, hope, sorrow and understated power.
