After a summer of storms in the UK, the local waters that I swim throughout the year look very different this July. Swathes of kelp smother the beaches and sargassum floats at the surface after being beaten by the wind and tides. Even the jellyfish, usually abundant, are sparce. After a long swim in search of a subject I came across a compass jellyfish in the flotsam near the shore. Initially I tried to take portraits of the subject, but the debris made the lighting near impossible. I started to think about the sky as a studio using snells window.
