Humpback whales spend several months in their Antarctic feeding grounds where they gauge on fat rich krill to ensure their blubber reserves are sufficient for the long migratory journey to their breeding grounds in the tropics. Using a technique called bubble netting they encompass the krill, pushing them towards the centre, before lunge feeding through the middle to effortlessly feed.(images taken under permit)
