Dan Rubin I nearly dismissed this work when I first viewed these images — their cleanliness was almost off-putting. Then I looked more closely, more deeply, and their nature was revealed to be more than surface-level, but rather carefully-crafted commentary in each frame. Clever and well-executed.
Being normal can become boring, and yet that is what one often unconsciously strives to achieve: to blend in with the crowd. Being normal can be an effort to conform to the majority’s expected patterns of behavior. The ongoing series Normal Is Boring, on the other hand, seeks to explore the extraordinary in its form and content. After all, it is uniqueness that defines us and sets us apart. In these images, I present ordinary situations in an unusual context. Behind the scenes: www.youtube.com/watch?v=EF1F-07ZrKg
