Jamason Chen Here photographs become medium that builds a bridge between generations
After the profound loss of my father, I sought to overcome my trauma by revisiting my relationship with the only remaining father figure I had left, my grandfather ‘Gong Gong’. He was the first and only ethnic Chinese to ever attain the rank of Deputy Commissioner in the Mauritius Police Force, overseeing the country’s police and military. Stoic and humble, yet capable of deep care and love, he is a shining example of what a man should be. Here, I aim to document him in all his glory, while overcoming the invisible barriers that we as men often put up, even between those closest to us.
