This long-exposure star trail image was captured at Mungo National Park, NSW, Australia. The lunettes in the foreground are ancient sand formations shaped over millennia. As part of the World Heritage-listed Willandra Lakes Region, this land preserves some of the oldest traces of Aboriginal history. For thousands of years, Aboriginal Australians have looked to the stars. In this image, the circular motion of the stars echoes the rhythmic shaping of the land, visually connecting Earth and sky through the enduring passage of time.
