On December 3, 2024, former President Yoon Suk Yeol declared emergency martial law. In front of the National Assembly, citizens and Members of the National Assembly who were blocked from entering the National Assembly were in chaos mixed with the military and police. Bare-handed citizens also stopped soldiers entering the National Assembly with guns. Former President Yoon Suk Yeol used the military and police to undermine the authority of constitutional institutions such as the National Assembly and violate the basic human rights of the people. He was eventually judged and impeached.
