Michael Pritchard The artist has made use of one of the earliest photographic processes to produced a powerful and beautiful body of work rooted in process but, importantly, shaped within the environment.
'And So I Watch You From Afar' is an ongoing series of cameraless, climate-adapted cyanotypes made through site-responsive methods. Vulnerable plant specimens and locally collected, often polluted, seawater are incorporated into the process so that environmental conditions materially shape each image. Each print is hand-coated, exposed to sunlight/UV, and carefully washed by hand, resulting in unique photographs that reflect ecological change and human impact from a distanced, observing viewpoint.
