This project reflects on the fragility of both nature and civilisation and the impact they make on each other. I was astonished when I visited the colliery Zeche Zollern. It is an icon of Germany’s industrial past. Rust and moss are covering forever stopped rails, wagons, pipes, engines and complicated mechanisms that seem to have stepped out of Jules Verne books. I have taken photos with worn textures from this visit, printed them, made origami butterflies from those and put them on a display similar to a stand in London Natural History Museum.
