The photographic collection Motherhood is a visual essay on the transformation of female identity when a woman becomes a mother. A series of self-portraits — without a visible face, without gestures — deliberately suppresses individual expression to draw attention to the power of the roles that motherhood imposes. Through the absence of face and gestures, through the hoods of roles that cover but do not protect, a space for reflection is created: is it possible to be a mother and yet remain visible?
