The global pandemic of 2020 gave rise to my self-portrait series I Am Not Myself.Concealing my face, I use body language within interior spaces to express the loneliness and vulnerability of isolation, constructing a symbolic figure that extends beyond personal experience. After pandemic restrictions in China were lifted in 2023, my work moved outdoors, where the body appears within nature, ruins, and historical landscapes. Together, these works trace a shift from confinement toward openness, reflecting both a transformation in the images themselves and the gradual formation of self-awareness.
