I-Chan Park This series departs from the conventional poses and ceremonial expressions of wedding photography, capturing instead the gestures and laughter through which the couple responds to one another. Lying in the grass, smiling face to face in the wind, and carrying each other on their backs, they present marriage not as an image of perfected happiness, but as a joyful promise to share a life together. Soft natural light and muted colors invite the mountains, fields, clouds, and wind into the photographs as an emotional landscape, while tousled hair and wrinkled clothing lend a vivid sense of reality to the carefully composed scenes. In particular, the groom’s posture as he holds and carries the bride, together with her arms wrapped around his shoulders, portrays love not as an exchange of gazes, but as a physical relationship grounded in accepting each other’s warmth and weight. Through the contrast between the vastness of nature and the intimate distance between the two figures, the photographs transform a record of ceremony into a narrative of life, revealing how wedding photography can convey the couple’s personalities and the emotional warmth of their relationship.
Rather than shaping couples into a version of themselves that looks right for the camera, I choose to focus on who they are when they are not performing. This series follows two beautiful souls moving through wind and mountains, enjoying each other’s presence, touching, laughing, and proving that bare honesty can look as perfect as the most carefully directed pose in the most controlled environment.
