Boxing and Body-building are trends of sport dominated by Israeli Russians and Israeli Arabs, communities which also produce the national champions. Much like the communities themselves both sports are almost entirely disregarded by state institutes and sport associations, and receive poor funding, if any at all. Official competitions usually take place in warehouses turned into 'sport halls', and are made possible by the help of former boxers and body builders working voluntarily. Nonetheless, these events are treated most seriously and conducted rigidly ‘by the book’ and with traditional codes almost as if copied from films. It is a fight for national, social, and self identity decorated by American outfits; a place where conflicts of harsh reality find their resolution in the glorified fantasy of gaining freedom by victory.
